To address community growth, Hedwig Village replaced its outdated 7,500-square-foot police station, built in 1984, with a modern 12,065-square-foot facility designed to meet evolving operational demands and complement the adjacent City Hall.

Hedwig Village Police Department Concept Design

The building’s exterior reflects the civic tone of surrounding public buildings, while the interior emphasizes efficiency with streamlined circulation and clearly zoned areas for officers, staff, and detainees.

Key program elements include a jail with eight holding cells, a juvenile detention area, two-vehicle sallyport, and detox unit. Specialized spaces support daily operations, including interview rooms, a crime lab, armory, secure evidence storage, and rooms for property and records. A fitness center with separate male and female locker rooms promotes staff wellness.

The facility also provides a squad room, private offices, and training and conference rooms to support professional development and interagency coordination. Built for flexibility and resilience, the police station strengthens the department’s ability to serve the community effectively.
