Regional Intermodal Transit Center (RITC) at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR)

The Regional Intermodal Transit Center at Hollywood Burbank Airport redefines connectivity in Southern California. Designed to support multiple modes of transportation, this 850,000-square-foot facility brings together public parking, a consolidated rental car facility, regional bus service, bicycle access, and a direct connection to the airport’s heavy rail station.

Set on a constrained urban site, the RITC supports Burbank’s growing transportation needs while preserving vital revenue streams. The project includes a 1,200-space public parking structure, replacing displaced airport parking and maintaining operational efficiency. A 2,000-space consolidated rental car facility features a multi-level layout with ready/return areas, a dedicated customer service building, and elevated platforms for fueling, maintenance, and car washing.

To enhance safety and accessibility, a 1,200-linear-foot elevated pedestrian walkway with moving sidewalks links the RITC to airport terminals—creating a seamless experience for travelers.

Built for long-term resilience, the structure is engineered to withstand a maximum critical seismic event. Atop the facility, a four-megawatt rooftop solar array supports the airport’s sustainability goals and contributes toward LEED Gold certification.

Features Include:

  1. Airport public parking (1,200 spaces)
  2. Rental car consolidated facility (2,000 spaces)
  3. Regional bus component
  4. Unique structural design built to withstand a maximum critical seismic event
  5. Four-megawatt roof-mounted solar facility
