Department of Public Safety Building (DPS) Headquarters at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
Dallas, TX
The 140,000-square-foot Department of Public Safety (DPS) Headquarters at DFW Airport consolidates administrative and operational offices for the airport’s police, fire, special services divisions, and detention center. PGAL led a comprehensive planning and programming effort to align space utilization with operational needs across departments, ensuring flexibility and long-term performance.

Designed to foster interdepartmental coordination, the two-story facility includes a wide range of highly functional, mission-driven spaces such as administrative and support personnel offices, conference and huddle rooms, training and seminar areas, and a dedicated IT/mechanical zone. Public safety operations are supported through hard and soft interrogation rooms, a forensic lab, evidence processing and storage, a Faraday conference room, SWAT deployment spaces, a patrol report writing center, and an armory.
Specialized areas include a detention facility, fully equipped patrol gear and canine rooms, a sally port, apparatus bay, and a storm shelter designed per ICC 500. Staff-focused amenities feature a defensive training area, an advanced fitness center, and generously sized locker rooms with integrated benches, boot drawers, charging ports, and equitable accommodations for female officers. Additional features include a quiet space, a café connecting to an outdoor patio, and dedicated space for future expansion.
