The redesign of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport’s 19th Street Cargo Facility was planned to strengthen the airport’s role as a premier global hub for air cargo logistics. Although the project is currently on hold, the design emphasizes operational efficiency and support for high-growth cargo sectors including pharmaceuticals, perishables, and cross-border e-commerce.

The comprehensive plan introduces two state-of-the-art warehouses totaling 350,000 square feet and seven large cargo aircraft parking positions. Building 1 spans 196,000 square feet with a 34,000-square-foot mezzanine, while Building 2 totals 118,000 square feet with a 25,000-square-foot mezzanine. Planned infrastructure improvements include new aircraft parking, pavement replacement on both landside and airside areas, taxiway upgrades, and an underground fuel storage facility.

Advanced systems were integrated to streamline cargo flow, improve ground handling, and reduce congestion. Automated cargo handling, robotics, and enhanced security measures create a safe, reliable, and scalable operational model.

Sustainability is central to the design, with energy-efficient systems and eco-conscious construction methods to reduce long-term environmental impact. The project supports the operational goals of DFW’s cargo tenants, including Menzies, Dnata, and Longo, while reinforcing the airport’s reputation for global logistics leadership.
