PGAL-Designed Saginaw Library + Senior Center Opens Its Doors to Community
The City of Saginaw celebrated the grand opening of its new 40,000-square-foot Library and Senior Center, a civic campus designed by PGAL to serve as a modern destination for learning, wellness, and community connection.
Located on a five-acre site, the two-building complex replaces outdated facilities with a multigenerational hub that reflects Saginaw’s steady growth and evolving identity. The two-story, 30,000-square-foot library nearly triples the size of its predecessor and introduces a wide range of flexible spaces designed to foster lifelong learning, including a children’s reading room, teen area, maker space, study rooms, conference facilities, and an outdoor learning zone.
Connected to the library, the one-story, 10,000-square-foot senior center expands services for Saginaw’s older residents with amenities such as a fitness area, larger kitchen, arts and crafts rooms, game zones, and shaded outdoor gathering spaces. Together, the buildings share parking and landscaped common areas, creating a unified campus that strengthens community ties.
“PGAL is proud to partner with the City of Saginaw to deliver a civic destination that is more than a building - it is a place where people of all ages can learn, gather, and grow together,” said Michael H. Lloyd, AIA, Principal.
Funded through a $25.9 million bond approved by voters in 2021, the new library and senior center reflect years of planning, community engagement, and design collaboration. The facilities not only honor Saginaw’s agricultural heritage but also position the city for continued growth as a dynamic North Texas community.
The grand opening celebration was held on September 27 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours, and activities for residents. The event officially ushered in a new chapter for Saginaw’s civic life, offering a space designed to serve the community for generations to come.
