PGAL Recognized by the Texas Chapter of the APWA with Public Works Project of the Year

PGAL is proud to announce that our work on the City of La Porte Recreation + Fitness Center Renovation has been recognized by the Texas Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) with the Public Works Project of the Year – Structures Award for Small Communities/Rural. This prestigious honor celebrates excellence in the planning, management, and delivery of public works projects that enhance quality of life and provide lasting value to communities.

The Texas APWA Public Works Project of the Year Award recognizes outstanding collaboration between public agencies, design teams, and construction partners, with a focus on project management, innovation, community impact, and the successful navigation of challenges throughout the project lifecycle. Receiving this award reflects the collective commitment of the entire project team to delivering a facility that serves the public good.

Located in La Porte, Texas, the Recreation + Fitness Center is a vital community asset that supports health, wellness, and recreation for residents of all ages. PGAL provided full architectural services for the renovation, including programming, design, and phased construction strategies that allowed the facility to remain operational throughout the project. This approach ensured uninterrupted access for the community while delivering meaningful improvements to the building.

The renovation modernized the facility through interior and building system upgrades, enhanced fitness and wellness spaces, and improvements to shared areas that better support daily use and long-term performance.
