The project improves flow from curb to gate by expanding check-in and baggage claim areas, streamlining security screening, and upgrading vertical circulation to support increasing passenger volumes. Consolidating key functions simplifies navigation and strengthens operational performance.

At Terminal 4, the headhouse and concourse are being expanded and modernized. The concourse is reconfigured to maximize the building footprint while maintaining all 15 gates in operation throughout construction. Enhancements include larger holdrooms, improved airside connectivity between terminals, and increased restroom capacity. These upgrades create a more intuitive, comfortable environment.
A new Secure Airside Connector links Terminals 4 and 5, supporting flexible passenger movement post-security. The design emphasizes open space, natural light, and clear wayfinding to benefit both travelers and staff.

To maintain operations during construction, the team implemented enabling packages and phased strategies that allowed the project to proceed as a landside operation. Tactics such as temporary relocations and strategic barricades helped minimize disruptions and preserve American Airlines’ high service standards.
