New Terminal + Related Facilities at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
Arlington, VA
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority selected PGAL, in collaboration with Cesar Pelli & Associates, to lead the planning and design of the 1,000,000-square-foot, 35-gate New Terminal and Related Facilities at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. A major focus of the work was seamlessly integrating the new terminal into the airport’s existing systems and historic facilities.

Responsibilities included project management, pre-design programming, schematic design, and design development. PGAL also prepared construction documents for key elements such as the expanded Metro Rail Station, pedestrian bridges linking parking structures to the terminal, and the Connector Terminal uniting the New and Main Terminals.
Working closely with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, the design team delivered a vital transportation hub while incorporating colonnades and vertical circulation cores that strengthen connections between personal vehicles, Metro Rail, Metro Bus, and air travel.
PGAL is a full-service Architectural practice that always exceeds our client expectations. Their staff demonstrates professionalism and enthusiasm in what they do. Their design team stays on top of the project schedule and costs. President Mr. Ken Brown pays personal attention to projects of different scales throughout all phases. It has been my honor having PGAL as the Architect of Record on many projects I have managed, and I look forward to collaborate with them in the future.
