Max Planck Florida Research Institute
Jupiter, FL
Located on Florida Atlantic University’s MacArthur Campus in Jupiter, the Max Planck Florida Research Institute provides a state-of-the-art environment for biosensing and bioimaging research. The 101,060-square-foot facility supports interdisciplinary work across physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, and computational sciences, focused on visualizing molecular and physiological tissue properties with exceptional specificity and in noninvasive ways.

Situated adjacent to Scripps Florida Research Institute, the building plays a central role in the region’s growing biomedical research corridor. The program includes wet and dry bench laboratories, instrumentation labs, computational research space, core imaging and microscopy facilities, IT services, and a vivarium. Additional functions include researcher offices, support shops, conference rooms, a 100-seat auditorium, a lunchroom, and informal gathering areas to support collaboration and exchange.
The facility design balanced complex programmatic needs with sustainability goals, image requirements, and budget constraints.
PGAL served as Architect-of-Record in collaboration with design architect ZGF.
