Indian River Courthouse Renovation
Vero Beach, FL
The 120,000-square-foot Indian River County Courthouse underwent a renovation that expanded courtroom capacity while preserving PGAL’s original 1994 design.

To accommodate a new courtroom, the Juvenile and Land Records departments were relocated to the first floor, where a law library had been reserved for future expansion. The redesigned departments share a secure, glass-enclosed reception area, semi-private research zones, and open staff workspaces, along with acoustically treated consultation rooms and secure records storage.
The new courtroom emphasizes acoustics, technology integration, and clear sightlines. Acoustic modeling informed finishes and sound locks, while a full-scale bench mockup ensured proper visibility. The completed space includes ADA-accessible jury seating, advanced audiovisual systems, and custom furnishings developed with the presiding judge.
