Harris County 1200 Baker Street Jail

The six-story, 575,000-square-foot facility houses 4,156 inmates and connects to neighboring jails and courthouses through a secure tunnel system for safe, efficient transport.

Housing units accommodate a wide range of inmate needs, with single-bed, multiple-occupancy, and dormitory-style configurations. Dedicated floors serve the female population, while vocational training areas and a law library offer rehabilitative support. Administrative offices are located on the first two floors, outside the secure perimeter, allowing direct access without compromising security.

A 22,000-square-foot medical clinic provides gynecology, radiology, dental care, and mental health services. An adjacent 126-bed medical holding area includes space for observation and isolation. On-site kitchen and laundry facilities support day-to-day operations with full self-sufficiency.
