Fort Lauderdale Fire Station No. 54
Fort Lauderdale, FL
A replacement for an outdated facility in the Central Beach district, the Fort Lauderdale Beach Fire Station serves as a modern emergency response hub while blending into the surrounding waterfront environment.

The two-story station accommodates two apparatus bays and a ten-person shift, with living quarters, operational spaces, and apparatus clearances efficiently arranged on a constrained, irregular site. The building’s massing and fenestration respond directly to the geometry of the parcel, optimizing space while minimizing visual impact.
The ground floor contains the apparatus bays along with 1,600 square feet of community and operational functions, while the upper level integrates living areas, offices, a dayroom, and a gym into a compact, efficient plan. A screened balcony and decorative steel wall system provide shade, privacy, and visual interest. Careful detailing ensures every façade is well-composed, presenting a consistent civic identity to neighboring properties on all sides.
