Consolidated Rental Car Facility (ConRAC) and Bus Maintenance Facility at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)

The campus includes a two-level, 1.6 million-square-foot concrete parking structure with 5,200 covered ready/return spaces. A dedicated upper-level busway guides customers directly to an 80,000-square-foot customer service building that ensures equal visibility and access for every provider.

The site also incorporates 50 acres for maintenance and storage facilities, with capacity for 100 percent expansion across all major elements. A purpose-built, clean-fuel bus maintenance center supports the airport’s common-use shuttle system, further enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability.

As part of PGAL’s strategic planning, a 1,400-linear-foot concrete and steel bus-flyover bridge was designed to provide uninterrupted access to the facility, significantly reducing bus travel time and traffic volume.

To accelerate project delivery, PGAL recommended separating the effort into two construction phases, a site development package and a building development package. This approach enabled fast-tracked delivery while complying with the City of Houston’s procurement requirements.
