Consolidated Quick Turnaround Facility at Santa Barbara Municipal Airport (SBA)

Strategically located off-terminal to ease congestion and streamline passenger services, the facility enhances overall airport efficiency and supports long-term growth. Designed in the Spanish architectural vernacular distinctive to the region, the project reflects the City of Santa Barbara’s aesthetic standards and environmental priorities through durable materials, efficient circulation, and scalable infrastructure.

The complex includes eight fueling stations, two car wash bays, five dedicated maintenance and administrative spaces, and parking for 300 vehicles. As a true common-use facility, it supports fleet efficiency, simplifies logistics, and advances sustainability-focused operations. The project meets California Title 24 Energy and Accessibility requirements and features a rooftop photovoltaic system that fully offsets the facility’s electrical demand.

PGAL served as both rental car planner and Architect-of-Record, guiding the project from early planning through delivery. The team also led extensive stakeholder coordination, facilitating strategy sessions with rental car agencies and franchise owners to align operations, environmental goals, and brand standards across all user groups.
