PGAL Serves Up Support at The Hoboken Shelter

Members of PGAL’s New Jersey office recently spent the day at The Hoboken Shelter, helping prepare and serve meals for neighbors experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. The volunteer day was part of our PGAL 80th Anniversary Give Back Days, bringing our anniversary celebration into the communities our teams call home.

Since 1982, The Hoboken Shelter has provided food, shelter, housing assistance, and supportive services throughout Hoboken and the broader Hudson County community. Today, that work includes more than 170,000 meals and 19,000 nights of safe shelter each year, along with housing placements for nearly 200 individuals.

Meals are a major part of the Shelter’s day-to-day work. Its kitchen prepares and serves approximately 500 meals each day, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner available seven days a week. Beyond providing something to eat, these meals can also create an opportunity to connect guests with additional resources and services.

Our New Jersey team joined that effort in the kitchen, working alongside Shelter staff and volunteers to help prepare and serve meals. It was a hands-on way to support an organization that has been part of the Hoboken community for more than four decades.

The Hoboken Shelter’s work extends well beyond its kitchen. Through individualized case management, outreach, housing assistance, and connections to additional resources, the organization helps guests move from immediate need toward greater stability. In 2025, 198 people transitioned from the streets to the Shelter and ultimately into stable housing with the organization’s support.

Our PGAL 80th Anniversary Give Back Days are giving teams across the firm a chance to choose causes that matter in their own communities. For our New Jersey office, spending a day supporting The Hoboken Shelter was a meaningful way to be part of the work happening right in their backyard.
