PGAL Celebrates Groundbreaking of Bay Area Homeless Services’ (BAHS) New Facility
On November 11, community leaders, local officials, and design and construction partners gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of Bay Area Homeless Services’ (BAHS) new facility.
The ceremony brought together Baytown City Council Members, BAHS Board Members, and representatives from PGAL and 7B Construction to mark the start of a project focused on providing stability and long-term opportunity for those experiencing homelessness.
PGAL Principal Paul Bonnette says, “For us, this project is about creating a place where people feel seen, supported, and safe. We wanted the building to feel warm and welcoming the moment someone walks through the door. Working with Bay Area Homeless Services has been incredibly meaningful, and we’re proud to help bring a space to Baytown that gives individuals and families a real chance to get back on their feet. It’s the kind of work that reminds you why we do what we do.”
The new, 3,950-square-foot facility is intended to support individuals in need and set them up for future success. Program for the three new buildings includes a centralized campus pantry and laundry facility, modern housing for 13 residents including a space for emergency overnight guests, offices, a computer lab, and job readiness training spaces.
“We are not just building buildings. We are here for people,” said Bill Eckert, Executive Director of BAHS, addressing attendees.
