Design Technology
At PGAL, technology is more than a tool; it is a mindset embedded in every aspect of our design practice.
Our Design Technology team partners closely with project teams to integrate advanced workflows including Building Information Modeling (BIM), computational design, immersive visualization, and rapid prototyping.
This collaborative approach enables precise, data-informed decisions that enhance performance, sustainability, and innovation from concept through occupancy. Through ongoing research, education, and strategic partnerships, we remain at the forefront of emerging tools and methodologies, empowering our designers to exceed client expectations and shape the future of design.
BIM
Building Information Modeling (BIM) forms the foundation of PGAL’s digital workflow, integrating multidisciplinary data into a unified environment. Our process begins before design, using LiDAR scanning and photogrammetry to document existing conditions, and continues through design, coordination, construction, and facilities management to ensure accuracy and efficiency across the project lifecycle. By leveraging 3D modeling, data integration, and clash detection, we reduce conflicts, streamline collaboration, and deliver projects with greater predictability and confidence.
Computational Design + Environmental Analysis
At PGAL, computational design empowers our architects, engineers, and designers with data-driven insights, enabling informed, strategic decisions to enhance overall project performance. Through environmental and user-experience analyses using computational simulations, we efficiently evaluate diverse design alternatives. Examples include solar and daylight analyses, wind studies, fluid dynamics simulations, view assessments, and crowd-flow modeling. By rapidly exploring these various scenarios, we ensure our solutions align effectively with sustainability targets, user comfort, and specific project objectives.
In-House Design Visualization
Our design visualization team specializes in creating compelling, immersive experiences that clearly communicate project narratives. Using advanced virtual and augmented reality tools, we enable clients and stakeholders to deeply engage with and understand their designs. From early concept explorations to photorealistic visualizations suitable for marketing and community outreach, our visualization capabilities empower informed decision-making, reduce uncertainties, and enhance stakeholder collaboration and project advocacy.
Digital Fabrication + Rapid Prototyping
Rapid prototyping at PGAL, particularly through 3D printing technology, allows our teams to quickly bring digital designs into tangible form. This capability enables designers and clients to physically interact with, evaluate, and iterate concepts rapidly, exploring construction details, scale relationships, and innovative ideas efficiently and cost-effectively. By bridging digital concepts and physical reality early in the design process, we reduce risk, clarify design intent, and streamline project development.
Research + Development
Our commitment to research and development ensures we consistently remain at the cutting edge of architectural and engineering technologies. We actively explore emerging tools, methodologies, and materials, collaborating closely with industry leaders, technology partners, and academic institutions. This forward-looking approach not only expands our team’s expertise but also drives the creation of bespoke digital solutions that directly address specific project challenges, ultimately delivering enhanced outcomes and positioning PGAL as a leader in design innovation.
