PGAL Celebrates Groundbreaking of HCSO Swiftwater Training Facility
PGAL recently joined Harris County leaders, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), and project partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new HCSO Swiftwater Training Facility, an important investment in first responder training, emergency preparedness, and public safety across the Houston region.
As the project’s Design Lead and Architect-of-Record, PGAL is helping shape a specialized facility that will provide law enforcement personnel and first responders with a realistic, hands-on environment to train for swift-current and rising-flood-water emergencies. In a region where severe storms and flooding can quickly create dangerous conditions, specialized water rescue training is critical. The new facility will allow responders to develop and strengthen lifesaving skills in a controlled environment, helping prepare them for real-world rescue operations.
Developed as part of the voter-approved 2022 Harris County Public Safety Bond Program, the project reflects Harris County’s continued investment in the training and resources first responders need to respond effectively when emergencies arise.
PGAL is working in collaboration with Harris County, HCSO, the Office of the County Engineer, Kitchell (serving as Construction Manager at Risk), and the entire project team to bring this important public safety resource to the Houston region.
We look forward to seeing the HCSO Swiftwater Training Facility take shape and become a lasting resource for the first responders who serve and protect our communities.
