PGAL Joins Discussion for Collin County’s New Public Health Buildings

PGAL recently joined industry leaders for the AIA | TEXO Collin County Public Health Buildings Panel Discussion & Tour in McKinney, Texas, an event focused on collaboration, technology, and the evolving future of healthcare facility delivery. Hosted by AIA Dallas and TEXO, the program brought together architects, contractors, and public sector leaders to examine how integrated project teams can navigate the growing complexity of healthcare environments while planning for long-term community needs.

Representing PGAL on the panel were Principals, Paul Bonnette, AIA, and Tim Konganda, AIA, who shared insights drawn from the design and delivery of the Collin County Medical Campus projects. The discussion explored the importance of early alignment between owners, architects, and contractors, highlighting how strong collaboration can reduce redesign, streamline coordination, and support more informed decision-making throughout the life of a project.

The featured development includes a new 90,000-square-foot County Healthcare Facility, a 20,000-square-foot Medical Examiner building, a multi-level parking structure, and associated site improvements that together create a centralized hub for public health services in Collin County. Panelists examined how the team approached program complexity, dense MEP coordination, and future expansion planning while leveraging BIM technologies and collaborative workflows to improve efficiency and minimize change orders. Additionally, Collin County’s Director of Building Projects, Sandeep Kathuria, AIA, complimented PGAL’s forward thinking design with flexibility built in to allow the campus to adapt to future expansion.

Following the panel discussion, attendees toured the active construction site, gaining firsthand insight into the systems, infrastructure, and construction strategies shaping the campus. The event reinforced the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in delivering resilient, adaptable healthcare facilities that serve rapidly growing communities.

PGAL is proud to contribute to conversations that advance the future of design and construction, while continuing to create landmark projects that connect communities and support long-term public well-being.
