City of Austin Davenport Ranch Fire + EMS Station

The result is a compact, site-sensitive design that integrates seamlessly into the surrounding residential neighborhood near Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School.

Challenging site conditions, including steep slopes and dense limestone, informed the 12,500-square-foot layout. Functionality was maximized on the constrained footprint with a single-story apparatus bay paired with two-story living quarters that accommodate multiple shift schedules and continuous operations.

The station houses four back-in apparatus bays, 14 sleeping rooms, and seven full restrooms to ensure personnel comfort and readiness. A 1,000-square-foot kitchen and dayroom provide shared space for meals and downtime, complemented by a fitness room and exterior lounge designed to support wellness between calls.
