Florida Atlantic University Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute
Jupiter, FL
The 60,000-square-foot Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute is a state-of-the-art research and teaching facility that advances Florida Atlantic University’s Jupiter Life Science Initiative.

Developed through a collaboration between the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science and the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, the facility supports interdisciplinary education and life science research while strengthening ties with partners such as the Max Planck Florida Institute.
Designed to address the university’s need for modern instructional and research space, the three-story building includes advanced laboratories, classrooms, faculty offices, and support areas. A vivarium supports STEM-related research, and open gathering spaces encourage collaboration among researchers, faculty, and students.
Located near the campus core, the facility reflects a forward-thinking design approach aligned with FAU’s academic mission. Laboratory spaces were planned for adaptability, allowing the university to respond to emerging research priorities over time.
