University of Texas Medical Branch Victory Lakes Medical Complex Master Plan

As part of its continued expansion of health care services throughout Texas’ southeast region, the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is planning a new clinical complex in the League City area. PGAL developed the 62-acre master plan for UTMB’s new facilities.

UTMB is a major academic health center dedicated to health science education, patient care, research, and community service. Since opening its doors in 1891 as a two-building campus, the state-owned medical school has expanded into a major academic center with schools of medicine, nursing, allied health center, graduate biomedical sciences, as well as specialized institutes for the study of medical humanities and marine biomedicine. A single hospital has become a comprehensive patient care complex, with six hospitals and more than 80 campus and community-based clinics.

Working closely with staff on programmatic visioning, architectural guidelines, and site and permitting issues, PGAL prepared the UTMB Victory Lakes Medical Campus Master Plan.

Planned for three-phase development, the plan includes clinic buildings, medical office buildings, a 100-bed day hospital, and an associated 1,000-car parking garage. The completed $35 million Victory Lakes Specialty Care Center, also designed by PGAL, set the tone for all future buildings on campus.

Features Include:

  1. Three-phase development plan
  2. Clinic buildings, medical office buildings, a 100-bed day hospital, and an associated 1,000-car parking garage
  3. Collaboration with UTMB staff to determine programmatic visioning, architectural guidelines, and site and permitting issues
