University of Houston Women’s Volleyball Locker Room + Lounge

A true collaboration between the University of Houston Athletics Department, volleyball coaching staff, and PGAL’s design team made the once outdated locker room space unrecognizable when the project was complete.

The state-of-the-art new locker room includes an open concept lounge, TV and film review area, kitchenette, private locker room, restroom with showers, training room, and an additional officials’ room with private washroom.

The final design includes a feature wall clad in back-painted glass-look panels and a back-lit, centered “UH”. The oval-shaped locker room has custom lockers and a ceiling design that envelops the unique shape as well as a sloped oval cloud in the center that has a custom laser-cut metal “UH” logo with halo lighting. The restroom and showers feature a spa-like aesthetic with floor to ceiling large format tile in a terrazzo look, a vanity with custom storage solutions designed uniquely for the players’ needs, as well as frosted glass shower doors with an etched “UH” logo.

The design enhances the school spirit with accents of red finishes and red LED tape lights throughout the architecture. Warmth was incorporated using wood-like materials and a mix of hard and soft finishes to ensure the players have an inviting atmosphere to come together as a team, study, and prepare for their next big match.

Features include:

  1. Luxury locker room and support spaces for the Women’s D-1 Volleyball team

  2. Unique oval-shaped main space

  3. Spa-like restrooms and showers
