Two PGAL Projects Win Landmark Awards
In the Houston Business Journal's 2014 Landmark Awards, both PGAL submitted projects were named winners in their categories. Bethel Park won top honors in Historic Preservation Category. It occupies the inner-city site of an 1890's Baptist Church rebuilt in 1950 and nearly destroyed by fire in 2005. It provides a unique open-air, inner-city park/museum embraced by a restored façade and three walls. The Leonel J. Castillo Community Center won the Community Impact Category. It converted an historic but fire-damaged 1919 elementary school from eyesore to a multi-user community asset.
