Terminal-Wide Advertising Fixture Program At Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

PGAL is providing design, construction documentation, and construction administration services for the multi-phased Terminal-Wide Advertising Fixture Program at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

The program has been divided into five phases which includes the installation of large format non-illuminated static signage, illuminated static signage, large format digital signage, video walls, courtesy phones, and charging stations. PGAL is coordinating the architectural design and detailing with the Clear Channel Airports design, engineering and digital media departments and, in association with the Clear Channel Airports team, will oversee installation of the fixtures at DCA. The dynamic advertising displays and interactive directories have been designed and positioned to provide convenience and visual interest for passengers while respecting the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority’s Design Manual standards.

PGAL assisted in developing design options to complement the iconic architecture of Reagan National. During the design of the Terminal B/C complex, the PGAL team clearly understands the Authority’s desire to preserve the openness and clear visual connection to all terminal amenities and the airfield. While respecting the existing backdrop of abundant glass and light, terrazzo, stainless steel, painted structural steel, and high impact wall panels, all advertising media will be integrated into the architecture in a manner similar to the existing Art Program and wayfinding signage. The proposed integrated advertising elements complement the architecture of the existing terminal facilities while enhancing the passenger experience and unifying the airport campus at DCA.
