PGAL Designs The Anamar at Collins Park: A Groundbreaking Workforce Housing Development

PGAL proudly announces the completion of The Anamar at Collins Park, an innovative workforce housing development located in the cultural heart of Miami Beach. The community came together to celebrate the official ribbon cutting on May 22, 2025, marking a significant achievement in addressing the city’s housing needs through design excellence and strategic collaboration.

Developed by Servitas, a leading real estate development firm specializing in housing solutions, in partnership with the City of Miami Beach, The Anamar at Collins Park represents a pioneering public-private partnership that reimagines underutilized urban land to serve essential community needs. The project broke ground in early 2022, transforming a small, city-owned surface parking lot into a dynamic seven-story, mixed-use residential development.

Located on 23rd Street and adjacent to major cultural institutions such as the Miami City Ballet, Miami Beach Regional Library, The Bass Museum, and Collins Park, The Anamar at Collins Park stands as a model of urban infill that blends architecture, arts, and accessibility. The building features a modern, white facade with recessed accent slots and a vibrant array of cantilevered balconies that bring color and visual movement to the street front and park-facing elevations.

The approximately 70,000-square-foot structure includes 80 units of workforce housing in a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments designed for essential workers and local residents. On the ground floor, residents and visitors are welcomed with an artist-focused retail space, a communal lobby, an on-site management office, and a mailroom. A well-equipped fitness center overlooks a private, passive-use lawn designed for outdoor relaxation.

In a unique feature of the project, the second floor includes dedicated dormitory-style housing and amenities for Miami City Ballet dancers. A screened patio and private stairway provide discrete and secure access directly to the Ballet’s campus across the street, enhancing the synergy between cultural infrastructure and supportive housing.

“PGAL is honored to partner with Servitas and the City of Miami Beach to bring this innovative project to life,” said Joby Balint, AIA, Associate Principal at PGAL. “The Anamar at Collins Park addresses a critical need while seamlessly integrating with its vibrant cultural surroundings.”

The architectural design, resulting from a collaboration with Shulman & Associates, was shaped by the site’s context and the project’s mission to provide dignified, high-quality housing while reinforcing the vibrant character of Miami Beach. The project’s proximity to the Jackie Gleason Theater, New World Symphony, Miami Beach Convention Center, and a wide array of dining, nightlife, and beach access further elevates the residential experience.
