PGAL Stuns at 2018 Product Runway Event

The PGAL Houston interiors team was a double winner in the 2018 Product Runway competition, April 27 at the Revention Music Center. PGAL walked away with the “Best Runway Look” and “Most Philanthropic” awards in the 10th annual event, sponsored by the Texas and Oklahoma Chapter-Houston City Center of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).

The avant-garde couture fashion design competition challenges design firms and student participants to create and model handmade runway garments using standard interior product materials such as glass, tile, carpet, and wood. Industry partners Geiger Furniture, Horizon Tile, and Koroseal, helped PGAL bring its design to life.

This year’s theme—Meet Me at the Met—was modeled after the annual Met Gala fashion event held annually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. PGAL’s unique design for Product Runway was based on the 1988 Met Gala theme of From Queen to Empress: Victorian Dress.

“Product Runway is a unique opportunity to tap into our design expertise and collaborate with our colleagues and partners to bring creative ideas to life,” says PGAL Associate Kirstin Brenders. “Knowing that our creation was so well received makes the experience that much more special.”

Product Runway benefits the Houston Furniture Bank, a non-profit organization that collects home furnishings and distributes them at no cost to families and individuals throughout the community. The organization has served more than 80,000 individuals since 1992.

The PGAL team included: Mary Maloney, Kirstin Brenders, Kristian ten Wolde, Alysha Koenig, and Jessie Gooch.
