City of West University Place Colonial Park Aquatic Center

Colonial Park Aquatic Center offers a number of amenities for the community of West University Place, including a leisure pool with deck space, tennis courts, a green park area, and a support building.

The 11,000-square-foot leisure pool has an expansive 12,500-square-foot deck for lounges, seating, and play areas. Water walks, floating logs, slides, water sprays, competition buckets, basketball goals, water wheels, wave slides, a climbing wall, and a diving board are just some of the amenities available for children to enjoy. Shade structures are strategically scattered throughout the pool deck for sun protection, and a state-of-the-art pool filtration system with UV disinfection assembly provides superior water quality.

The 4,600-square-foot aquatic building features patios and an outdoor grill area with six showers and ample restrooms available inside. The building also houses two offices and a control room for the pool operation, as well as a concession providing pre-packaged food for events with built-in infrastructure for future food preparation operation. A large multifunctional room is available for community gathering, exercising, and health and activities classes.

The building is contextual in nature with a stone and stucco green metal roof that blends well with the surrounding residential neighborhood. PGAL provided additional landscape to reinforce the residential presence and preserved all large trees, which provide coverage for the green park. The park also contains a large wooden deck for community gatherings, celebrations, and general relaxation.
