Not your Daddy's Barracks...$129 Million Marines Complex Opens in Twentynine Palms, California

With college campus ambiance, upscale materials and extensive indoor/outdoor recreational amenities, the new Bachelor Enlisted Quarters complex at U.S. Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) introduces the “new generation” of military housing.

Designed by PGAL, developed by Joint Venture Straub-Martin Harris, it includes three 4-story BEQs (576 two-person rooms), landmark projection tower, 500-seat outdoor amphitheater and 706-space parking garage. Registered LEED Platinum, it is 92% Net Zero Energy. Awarded by NAVFAC SW, the fast-track buildings feature striking two-story “great-room” activity centers and inviting “living rooms” on individual floors.
