Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport  Continental President's Club - Historic Dining Room Renovation

Arlington, Virginia

Completion Date: 1998

PGAL was selected by the Airport Authority to manage the design effort for the initial phases of the ongoing restoration and renovation of the existing 1941 Main Terminal. PGAL managed, designed and prepared construction documentation of featured areas within the historically significant 1941 Main Terminal facility (South Terminal). The Terminal's Presidential Suite and the original Airport Post Office facility were renovated as part of a $1 million Airport Operations facility renovation project. The Presidential Suite and the Post Office lobby were successfully restored and currently serves as the Authority Operations' conference center and the Operation's Badge and I.D. lobby respectively. In a follow-up project, PGAL completed the design for the restoration and renovation of the Main Terminal's former Dining Room facility. This project involved the design for restoration of this significant historical area of the Main Terminal to serve two functions as the Authority Exhibit Space and as an airline membership lounge. All work was reviewed and approved by the State Historic Preservation Officer. The completed club was selected in 2002 by Forbes magazine as one of the ten best airline clubs in the world.
