PGAL provided design services for the Houston YET Center at Finnigan Park, located in Harris County Precinct 1. The 17,500 SF community center project is a joint partnership between Harris County and The National Football League. The completed building will be operated by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston.
The center will have dedicated spaces designed solely for after-school and weekend youth programs/activities. The center contains a full court gymnasium, game room, teen center, art room, meeting room, Learning Center and support offices. The Learning Center can also serve additional purposes as meeting rooms for drug prevention and conflict resolution programs.
The teen center is a dedicated area for members ages 13-18 and has a study area with computer equipment and space to conduct programs for teen-related, entrepreneurial and college prep programs. The gymnasium is sized for one regulation high school basketball court or two half courts and will also be used for Club dances and other social activities. The Learning Center is designed for flexibility and will accommodate displays of books and periodicals, a variety of reading or discussion settings and state-of-the-art computer equipment. The Learning Center can also serve additional purposes as meeting rooms for drug prevention and conflict resolution programs.
