PGAL is providing complete programming and full A/E design services for this new 190,000 SF vertical parking garage expansion. The existing garage holds 1,057 cars and the expansion will accommodate additional cars in two levels for a total of 1,800 cars. Expanding this garage requires maximizing the use of the existing land. The garage will expand vertically, on top of the existing facility since adjacent or nearby sites were not available or feasible for expansion. The parking stall layout will be reconfigured throughout the garage to increase capacity and maximize the functionality of each floor-plate.
Phased construction allows the existing facility to remain operational during the construction process of the upper floors. The existing structure will be laterally strengthened to conform to the current windload and code requirements. The completed structure will feature upgraded lighting and a durable low maintenance facility. A Parking Access and Revenue Control System will be implemented to increase exit capacity and revenue. The garage will be painted concrete and architectural elements will be incorporated that respond to the courthouse and context of the existing design and downtown area.
