McCarran International Airport Parking Garage
Las Vegas, Nevada
Completion Date: 2007
Construction Cost: $150 M
PGAL is providing design services to Walker Parking Consultants for the design of a new parking garage for McCarran International Airport. The new facility will be compatible with the proposed new Terminal 3 building, also designed by PGAL.
The parking garage is a 6-level garage measuring approximately 1152' X 324' containing 5,200 parking spaces. A public pickup area will be located at level 2. A double threaded helix will provide vertical transportation within the garage.
Special design features in the garage include stainless steel mesh screens at three locations where the terminal pedestrian bridges connect to the garage, dynamic signage and environmental graphics, Flight Information Display Screens (FIDS) at passenger pick-up, full service valet, and an electronic parking control system. The garage has been designed using materials that match and complement Terminal 3's design: Metal panels, stainless steel mesh and integrally colored pre-cast concrete are the primary components of the material palette.
As Las Vegas is known for it's skyline at night, exterior lighting design was a major design consideration. PGAL took care to provide exterior lighting in a measured way, respecting the existing residential neighborhood to the north of the garage / terminal while providing a unified lighting design solution.
The garage is served by a 10,000 SF Parking Administration Building which houses the revenue, security, operations, and IT needs for the T3 Garage. This building is an independent structure that is approximately 30 feet east of the garage, and includes the parking toll plaza and canopy. The Administration building has a tilt-up concrete structure with stainless steel mesh accents in a compatible color scheme to the garage and terminal.
