Sugar Land Police and Courts Renovation
Sugar Land, Texas
Construction Cost: $4M
Completion Date: 2002
The City of Sugar Land selected PGAL to renovate and expand the recently constructed 39,000 SF police headquarters and municipal court building to meet current and future needs.
The newly expanded police headquarters houses an additional 58 staff and a new training facility. The building's 19,000 SF expansion involved the removal of two main exterior walls, increasing the structure's footprint in two directions. The balance of the building was renovated to relocate departments within the existing structure. The municipal courts were renovated to add another court room and related support space. The public lobby was revised to provide access to the new court room. Design components include Municipal Courts, Police Administration, Investigation/Identification, Dispatch, Evidence Storage, Forensics Lab, Homeland Security, Briefing Rooms, Records Room, Emergency Operations Center, Jail, Patrol Room, FBI Liaison Area, and Training Rooms.
