PGAL is providing Programming, Master Planning and Concept Design Services for the Southern Nevada Health District's (SNHD) new replacement facility building. The site is located within the Las Vegas Medical District, which includes 214 acres and was originally adopted by the Las Vegas City Council in 1997. This significant urban renewal plan has been updated with the general concepts, goals, objectives and policies relating to land use, development and design standards being amended on June 19, 2002. The SNHD and other medical/professional functions are housed within this important and growing health and medical services district. In tandem with this area wide urban improvement effort is the re-routing and widening of streets, utility enhancements and landscape improvements, including Project Neon which will relocate Martin Luther King Boulevard. Project Neon is expected to affect the building housing the Southern Nevada Public Health Laboratory on Desert Lane which is located southeast of the main campus. All these factors support the need for an improved image, access and upgrade of SNHD facilities. The replacement facility is expected to be approximately 150,000 to 200,000 square feet. This will be determined during the programming phase of this work. PGAL is assisting the District in implementing the project. This includes developing a program identifying the requirements of the project not only now but in the foreseeable future. The program will be developed into a master planning and concept design document that will provide a road map for implementation of the project. The site will be studied to determine the best alternative for siting the new building as well as any future uses of the site. A single line plan will be developed based on the program to test the planning assumptions and to ensure building flow has been maximized. We will develop a project budget, schedule and renderings that can be used for soliciting funding for the project.
