PGAL was initially selected to renovate this facility, but after extensive evaluation and cost benefit analysis, HISD chose to proceed with an entirely new $20M facility. The 2-story, 195,336 SF Magnet School for Performing Arts serves more than 1,700 students grades 7-8 and a staff of 150. Classrooms were designed in "clusters" to improve student flow and give a small school and personalized feel. The site includes an athletic field, a playground and a hard surface play area.
