FAU Student Services Center
Boca Raton, Florida
Construction Cost: $12.4M
Completion Date: 2004
PGAL designed the Student Support Services Facility which is a 95,775 SF building that brings together Florida Atlantic University's entire student services under one roof. Departments from three divisions-Financial Support Services, Academic Support Services, and Student Support Services-will provide a "one stop" experience for both new and current students.
All elements of the design are focused on a single purpose - student services. The central element of the design is a large two-story lobby that is the primary point for providing these services. The building is organized so that the majority of departments have their service counters and entry points directly on the lobby. At the heart of the building is the main help desk, placed in a central and controlling position within the lobby to provide instant information and assistance. Cueing for services is an essential component to the lobby design as well as building organization.
