FAU MacArthur Campus and Honors College
Jupiter, Florida
Construction Cost: $25M
Completion Date: 2001
PGAL was responsible for the campus master plan, infrastructure development and Phase I implementation of the new FAU Jupiter Campus which is located on a 135-acre site donated by the MacArthur Foundation as part of the "New Town Development" Abacoa. This project establishes a location for Florida Atlantic University's Honors College, while serving as a commuter facility for students in the northern Palm Beach region. The architectural environment master planned and designed by PGAL demonstrates this "sense of community" in its 125,000 square foot, 135-acre campus by capturing elements of classicism with forward-thinking creativity found in our higher education system today. Columns and arches echo historic campus buildings and the wide brick boulevards are reminiscent of promenades found worldwide. These familiar qualities are countered by the modern amenities, such as internet accessibility, and contemporary materials, such as metal ceiling panels, that are found throughout the interior of the buildings. Seven new buildings have been constructed as part of the PGAL assignments. These include three classroom/faculty buildings, a dining facility, a central energy plant, and two residence halls. The last phase of the $25 million program was completed in 2001.
