El Centro Community College Student Union and Technology Center Addition
Dallas, Texas
Construction Cost: $6M
Completion Date: 2002
Originally comprised of two low-rise buildings constructed in the 1970s and an original mid-rise building that was constructed in the early 1900s. The new Student and Technology Center, designed by PGAL, merges the existing buildings into a unified Campus. The design of the new center has been developed to enrich the vernacular of the Historic District and provide a functional keynote structure that includes a new front door, three-story rotunda entrance; a student union, designed as an indoor plaza, complete with a video room, multi-purpose study area and kitchen and a snack bar; and computer/training labs and student government center conducive to large meetings, yet divisible for small social gatherings.
