PGAL, in association with Michael Graves Architects, was retained by Rice University to effect $55.6 million in improvements including the renovation of Jones College. The project includes adding 44 additional beds and a new Master's House where faculty members live and organize student activities. This project combined food preparation and serving facilities for Martel, Jones and Brown Colleges. The glass enclosed stair tower clad in pink Georgia marble provides a new central focal point within the courtyard, and serves as the main vertical circulation from the residential wings to the common spaces. A new residential wing unites the two previously separated existing buildings and provides a new commons on the first floor.
