City of Lauderhill Municipal Complex

Lauderhill, Florida

Construction Cost: $3.2M
Completion Date: 2004

PGAL has designed the 25,000 SF Lauderhill Police Station in a design build arrangement with Dwight Stephenson Construction. The project sits on a vacant 22-acre site along Broward County's busiest east-west corridor.

The public safety facility was designed for a 24/7 operation, utilizing homeland security and enforcement accreditation guidelines. One control point is provided through card reader access for each operational zone. A welcoming presence is created in the lobby with a double height volume, which leads the public to the briefing room. The briefing room will serve a multi-purpose with divisible partitions to create one or two meeting rooms. The briefing room is also equipped with data and power lines in the floor to accommodate the technical demands of the modern day police facility. Office views are oriented toward the lake.

Part of the mixed-use master plan, the police station is oriented along West Oakland Park Boulevard with vehicular access to the south and pedestrian activities to the north, along the existing lakefront. The police station, the most private of the community buildings, will be situated at the western end of the site. A linear landscaping zone with special light fixtures and furnishings will be installed along Oakland Park Boulevard to create an entry befitting a Municipal Complex.
