Broward County Airport/Seaport, Fire Rescue Station and Logistical Warehouse
Dania Beach , Florida
Construction Cost: $12.8 Million
Completion Date: 2008
Program:
- Regional Fire Rescue/Training Station is located in the light industrial district of Dania Beach, on the west side of the Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport.
- New station will have three drive-thru apparatus bays to support the following equipment; an ALS Tower, two ALS Rescue Vehicles, an ALS Engine, and three ALS Rescue Training Vehicles.
-
The logistical warehouse serves as a central location to replenish Broward County Fire Stations and for local cities to purchase supplies.
-
Warehouse is divided into two functions, a small business office at the front of the building and a large open storage area.
- Proposed open storage area is 21,000 square feet, which is twice as much space at the existing warehouse.
- Warehouse is designed to remain operational during a hurricane to provide supplies before and after a storm.
Innovations:
- Station will be on 100% emergency power with additional fuel to supply the apparatus equipment.
- Station will support two types of crews: a 24/7 crew, consisting of seven fire-rescue personnel and three officers and a regular 40-hour a week crew, consisting of four fire rescue personnel, four lieutenants and one captain.
- Since the station is adjacent to the airport parking lot and places of business, a small exam room was provided to treat a walk-up patient.
-
Station will have a 32-seat capacity regional training room.
- Station is designed to allow for an apparatus bay expansion and additional bunks with minimal impact to the site.
